I just read a post on Chicago Tribune.com that Flytunes will cache up to 40 minutes of audio. This means you can listen to your favorite Flytunes station, they are up to over 60 now, and then take it on the road with you without your WiFi connection for your iPod touch. Of course those of you with an iPhone can still use the available Edge network stations while away from WiFi but this is neat. I’m trying mine tomorrow morning. How many minutes of Internet Radio will Flytunes cache on your iPod touch or iPhone? Leave a comment here. Update after the break…

UPDATE: This morning (May 12, 2008) I fired up Flytunes on my iPod touch and let it stream for about 8-10 minutes then got in the car to drive to work. Flytunes continued to play cached content for 35 minutes. I should mention that I was playing “The Office” station which is a lo-fi station geared for the iPhone so it might not have cached as much had I picked a higher bit rate station. Still a pretty neat trick. Makes one wonder how much longer satellite radio can last before Internet Radio takes over on all fronts.

Not only is it a good MP3 player but it plays movies and is a very simple and easy to use PDA. With a built in calendar, address list and notes section this MP3 player can pull dobule duty as a PDA (personal digital assistant). The nice thing about it is it’s small but the large screen and text make it easy to read. No manual needed with this puppy. Check it out at www.apple.com. Got one? Tell us what you think.
