[...] FlyTunes names its iPod classic product FlyTunes Desktop. Yeah, not very original but likely a good fit. It is a downloadable application that will let users of iPod’s download FlyTunes 400 + stations to the iPod. This will be very cool for all of you tired of listening to the same old songs on your iPods. One can only hope that FlyTunes will make this work with non-Apple MP3 players. Come on guys, don’t leave the non Apple folks out in the cold. You can go to FlyTunes.com and sign up for the “velvet rope” list. [...]

You can also use www.TalkStreamLive.mobi to get all the Talk Radio shows in your car. You will need a Windows Mobile Smartphone and data plan or wi-fi hot spot to listen. The talk shows are WMA and you might need TCPMP for the broadband music streams.

Go to www.TalkStreamLive.com for more information.

Thanks for the kind words on TUN3R.

You certainly get what we're trying to do. Namely, get back to making a live DJ based radio tuner fun again.

As for DJ radio versus Customer Radio... This is a subject I could talk about for hours (see my blog post where I argue in favour of DJ radio at: http://tun3r.blogspot.com/2008/03/theory-of-mind-shared-experience.html)

For me it all comes down to whether you believe DJing is an optimization problem, or a creative endeavor. For many stations it would seem to be a bit of both, but if you've listened to stations like Radio Paradise (as but one example), I am convinced that DJing is going through a creative renaissance. That said, techno DJs like Fatboy Slim have known this for years.

Cheers,
Neil Hepburn (full disclosure: I'm a cofounder of TUN3R, and am highly biased in favour of DJ-mixed radio).

Nick,

As a member of the erockster team, I encourage you to give listening another shot. As of 2:00pm PST we have made changes to our player, specifically for mac users, and am deeply saddened by your first experience. HOWEVER, we are listening and hoping you are as well, please contact me directly if you have any more issues @ steve.finley@erockster.com.

We're striving to make daily improvements towards building our vision or what radio can and will be!

Sincerely,

Steve @ erockster.com
