Clearwire a joint venture of some communication heavy weights and Intel will attempt to build the first large scale WiFi networks.
Here’s the starting point: By 2011, Clearwire intends to offer WiMax services to the top 100 cities in the U.S. That means rolling out significant parts of the network in 2010. Also on Maloney’s check list: a low-cost design of the network. “It has to be Web 2.0-capable,” he adds, which means having lots of bandwidth to send data either to or from devices. “It’s got to have a lot of bandwidth, up and down, and packets have be able to get off quickly.
